Will add more details in the comment, since I ran out of room. Basically, I afraid if I complain to corporate they will fire me
I work at a retail company that has like 500 stores… When I was hired a couple years ago they only gave benefits to “full time” workers & then after “obamacare” they started cracking down on the number of hours we part-timers could work – no more than 30 or 32 per week or something, which is what I normally got often but they became very weird about hours and then seemed to cut all the part-timers hours a lot (they hired a lot more part timers and just give everyone barely any hours) sometimes it is only like 8 hours a week usually not more than 20 – pretty pathetic and you can’t expect any guarantee for hours. Then a week or so ago a posting in the break room showed up announcing: “Now part-time employees will get benefits like dental and vision…” which I found pretty exciting because the “obamacare” I qualify for due to their intentional low hours doesn’t include dental & I need some major work that would be thousands without insurance I obviously can’t afford – but, of course, read on the paper further and the only “part-time” ones that can get this need to meet an average of like 3.8 hours a day – whatever it was I calculated that was around 28 hours a week… out of room

Complaining about benefits and work environment is generally protected speech, mention the words union with it and you would be very hard to fire, I am waiting for the rest of your question.
