Is NYC Admin Code 24-218 a misdemeanor? I haven’t found any information on the type of code penalty this is.
I was driving on 6/10 and went over a bump and then heard a loud noise from the exhaust. I proceeded to drive to my mechanic but was pulled over and ticketed.
I was given a pink summons with code 24-218 with no subsection “a,b..” and noted “unreasonable noise from engine exhaust.” I explained to the officer I was on my way to get it fixed and that was no help.
I have the receipt from the shop showing it was fixed within less than a hour on the same day of the ticket being issues.
What will happen when I go to court, all I can find is that this is a misdemeanor charge on one webpage and another says it is a violation. I did not commit any crime, a part broke on my car, can I get this reduced prior to seeing the judge?

just a cursory glance of nyc attorneys and your type of citation, there are plenty who actually specialize in this. I would contact one of them and have them take care of the matter. Going before any judge yourself is almost like operating on yourself, both are not a good idea.
