My abusive husband assaulted police officers last year. This resulted in a misdemeanor assault conviction, a four year suspended sentence, and two years of probation. I fled the state of Iowa to escape his abuse and he violated his probation and attempted to locate me. He hid out with his parents for two months in another state. Thankfully he was stupid enough to go back to Iowa to buy drugs and see friends and he was arrested for some petty crime. I stay in contact with his PO and he said that it is possible that the judge could let him back out on probation although he will be recommending that my abuser serve his prison sentence. I’ve written a letter to the DA and the judge pleading that they make my abuser go to prison. In your experience, what usually happens to someone that violates probation by fleeing the state? Can the judge give him more prison time because he fled? Is there any defense for his actions that could result in him being released? I am terrified of this man and have a divorce pending and a protection order that is good for five years.

Press hard enough and you sure will increase the odds. The protection order does not stop bullets. Stay with someone you know that he does not who can keep yourself safe.
