Can I file suit against a town court for damages and loss of income due to a wrongfully suspended driver’s license

About 20 minutes ago I was pulled over for evading a traffic signal the officer came back and told me that my license was suspended. Apparently what happened was a town where I work suspended my license for failure to respond to a ticket. The backstory is that I missed a court date and I had to respond either guilty or not guilty by July 1st. I responded to the ticket on June 30th by fax and confirmed it with the court clerk that my plea was entered and accepted. However they must have not entered it in the computer and apparently my license was suspended. I’m a car salesman my income and livelihood rely on my license and now that it’s technically suspended I cannot go for test drives I cannot drive vehicles I cannot sell car basically and with this being the holiday weekend I’m going to be Sol I’m so least Tuesday that being said would I be able to file suit for loss of income during this holiday weekend which is one of the busiest weekends in car sales I can actually be out thousands of dollars. I live in Upstate New York Orange County to be specific please guys I need some help on this thank you in advance for any advice.

Traffic Lawyer Richard Simon’s Answer

In general towns and courts are protected by sovereign immunity, however you do have damages and may have a case, this traffic question has a government lawsuit question.
