I was served a summons on 3/25/16 from the State of Maryland for a lease that was broken in April of 2009. At the time, I sent my keys back for the apartment and was told that they would follow up with me about the amount of money I owed. Additionally, I was told that I might not have to pay anything as I was in the apartment less than a month and would depend on how quickly they could rent the apartment. I don’t remember being notified about an outstanding debt and it appears that it was filed in court in 2011. I never received any notification about this until 3/25/16 and have been living in my home state of Iowa since 2009.
