A friend and I decided to set up a single drag race between the two of us on a road at the edge of town. Nobody was in sight but apparently a state trooper was. We went, and as we coasted to a stop we sat next to each other for a minute to talk. My friend, in his car, went south and left to go home. I turned around to go back to where we started the race because I had left a tool set on the ground. As I started driving back to get it, I was pulled over. The trooper told me that my friend had just gotten lucky and that I was the one who didn’t get away. I received a citation for “engaging in a speed contest” and a warning for speeding.

Yes it certainly is. You need to get this amended and a good defense. Some states and municipalities have heavy punishments for engaging in drag racing and even just being a spectator.
